The Odyssey and Greek Mythology



In this unit we focus on Greek mythology and the impact of ancient texts on modern culture.  We will spend the majority of the unit reading and analyzing the impact of Homer's The Odyssey.  
    Standards addressed:
RL.8.9. -  I can analyze and explain how a modern text draws on themes, patterns of events, and characters from myths and ancient works.
L.8.5. - I can demonstrate my understanding of figurative language.  I can distinguish among the connotations of words with similar denotations.
RL.8.2. - Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text

The final assessment for "The Odyssey" has been assigned.  Click below to view the assignment options:
  • Both Parts A & B are due on Thursday 4/3 and Friday 4/4.  
  • Students who chose to create a presentation are expected to present on the date the assignment is due.
