9 & 9H - Parody Poster

The Assignment: Students are to create a poster (in groups of 2-4) that demonstrates the "parody qualities" of one character from The Death and Life of Sneaky Fitch.

Due Dates:     Blocks 2, 4, 5 - The poster is to be completed by the end of class on Thursday, Oct. 8th
                                 Blocks 2, 4, 5 - Students must be prepared to present their poster to the class on Tuesday, Oct. 13th.
                        Block 3 - The poster is to be completed by the end of class on Tuesday, Oct. 13th.
                                Block 3 - Students must be prepared to present their poster to the class on Wednesday, Oct. 14th.

Grading:  Both the Reading (Comp1) and Communication (Comp3) Competencies will be assessed for this assignment.
Reading Competency (Comp1) - You must do the following in order to receive the full 10 points for this competency:
  • Demonstrate your understanding of parodies
  • Demonstrate your understanding of themes, icons, and conventions
  • Find and use relevant quotes from a text to support your answers
  • Apply MLA in-text citation rules to direct quotes
Communication Competency (Comp3) -  You must do the following in order to receive the full 10 points for this competency:

Creation -

  • Spell and punctuate all elements of the poster correctly
  • Organize your information so that it is easy to read and understand
  • Demonstrate pride in your work by writing neatly and adding detail

Presentation -

  • Prepare by determining a portion to present for each member of the group
  • Plan what you are going to say about your portion
  • Explain your assigned portion of the poster clearly and thoroughly
